Lost Virginia

While googling for the street address of the Augusta County Courthouse I stumbled across this page, which is a part of this site, a promo for a 2001 museum exhibition called "Lost Virginia: Vanished Architecture of the Old Dominion." The High Victorian Gothic Roanoke Post office (demolished 1933) is there, as is the first Homestead (burned 1901).

Its really, really too bad they demolished that post office. Assuming it wasn't demolished after being damaged by fire or something, it's a huge loss.....or was a huge loss, considering how long ago it was demolished.

it is beautiful in that pic.
